If your student has been diagnosed with an Expressive or Receptive Language disorder or delay, use this page to navigate to resources and activities to help build your child's language skills. When a speech therapist provides Language Therapy to your child, we are teaching your student how to effectively understand and use words to explain his or her thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs.

Your child learns to use Receptive Language skills in order to understand stories, answer questions, follow directions, and make sense of new vocabulary words. Expressive Language skills are used to tell stories, ask questions, explain problems, and describe items. Think of it like this: receptive=receiving, and expressive=explaining.

Las habilidades de lenguaje expresivo se utilizan para contar historias, hacer preguntas, explicar problemas y describir elementos. Piénselo de esta manera: receptivo = recibir y expresivo = explicar.
