Vaping has become popular with teens. Vaping devices are readily available and have flavored liquids that are appealing to youth. Vaping has serious health risks associated with use, as well as the nicotine it contains being highly addictive. Nicotine may permanently harm the developing teen brain. Additionally, vaping exposes the lungs to a variety of chemicals and there are no FDA regulations in the manufacturing of vaping products.
There have been increased reports of vaping-related lung illness and most recently an adult death in Tulare County resulted from complications attributed to vaping. Symptoms of vape-related lung injury may include shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain, nausea and fever.
