Virginia History along the Appalachian Trail

Virginia Tech Course, Fall 2026: HIST 2624 / APS 4094

Students enrolled in this course will:

• Learn about the history of Virginia along the Trail

• Analyze data from hikers’ navigation tools

• Explore archival sources from trail clubs 

• Partner with New River Valley organizations

• Contribute to multimedia historical narratives 

• Complete Pathways 1A & 5A education requirements

• Participate in optional trips to the Appalachian Trail 

• Present in DC to the Appalachian Regional Commission

Open to all majors with no prerequisites. MW 2:30-3:45
