The muZIEum is not a museum where you admire objects from a distance. It is a museum where visitors actively participate. This is precisely what makes the muZIEum a unique experience. The main attraction is the dark experience. In this experience, visitors enter total darkness. Here, they are guided by one of the museum staff, who are either blind or partially sighted, and they will show visitors what their world is like. There are two dark experiences: 'A Day in the Life of…' and 'On Holiday with…'
Blind and visually impaired people fully participate in our society. However, only one in five visually impaired people has a job. At the muZIEum, employees with visual impairments are the heart of the organisation.
It’s important to experience this firsthand, as it helps us better understand the challenges faced by visually impaired people and how they navigate the world.
