Shout out to Ms. Marcus and Mrs. Strietenburger, VVA Secondary teachers, who planned our final whole-school VVA Meet-Up. Students enjoyed pizza and snacks while they played ping pong, giant Jenga, and corn hole. Both elementary and middle school students were in attendance, along with several parents, Dr. Miller, VVA Principal, and all of the VVA teachers. Thanks to the families who have supported our meet-ups throughout the year.
🎉Congratulations to all of our students for completing a successful school year! A special shout-out to Aaron M., Jamilah B, and Nini T. for their promotion to middle school. All are invited to the graduation ceremony on June 4, 2024, at 3:00pm on the Alta Vista Campus.
💻Students not returning to VVA need to return their Chromebooks. If students plan to remain at VVA for the 2024-25 school year, they may keep their devices over the summer unless they need to be repaired or exchanged.
📆 Check the VUSD 2024-25 Calendar for important dates. Our first student day in the fall is August 15th. Important dates are also reflected on the calendar below.
I'd like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for an incredible school year.
Students, your enthusiasm, curiosity, and hard work have made our virtual classroom a joyful place to learn and grow. It has been a pleasure watching you develop new skills, make new friends, and tackle challenges with determination and a positive attitude.
Parents, your support and involvement have played a crucial role in your child's success. Whether it was helping with homework, participating in school events, or simply encouraging a love for learning at home, your dedication is appreciated. Together, we have created a nurturing environment that has allowed each student to flourish to the best of their ability.
As we look forward to the next chapter, I am filled with excitement for all the wonderful things the future holds for our students. Thank you once again for being an essential part of our learning community. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and restful summer break!
Warm regards,
Ms. Ordonez

Learning Coach Support
How Can I Help My Student With
Online Learning?
During online instruction, each student will need the support of a Learning Coach, typically the parent or guardian, who is present while the student is working at home. As students progress in their success with online learning there is an increase in independence.
The role of the Learning Coach includes but is not limited to:
Provide a quiet and organized space for online learning.
Guide the student through the lessons, tools, and games as needed.
Oversee assignments and help facilitate hands-on learning.
Check for understanding and discuss concepts being taught.
Keep the student on schedule and on pace.
Ensure all components are done with fidelity.
Communicate with the teacher as needed.
Celebrate success🎉
