The Settlement Debate: Strategy & Reflection
During the second round of preparation i thought to myself:"what if i use a more clear example of the nodal settlement ". So when class started i went and immediately change ERCOT (Texas) to Wanhua District so that everyone would know it better. After that i went and practice and everyone seemed to understand more and we think that we kind of succeed.
After the debate the strongest argument we heard was:"What happens if the city's economy lowers will you guys be affected". We were stuck for a little bit because our nodal settlement is located between big cities or trading ports.
In this project we had to make a choropleth map of Taiwan, and after i finished i think that i messed up with the range so the whole map is off by 231,650 and the whole map is one shade off, I also used the same shade of blue for two different value ranges, which made the map confusing to read. I also miss coloured some parts of the map like the newtaipei are and some parts aren't shadded properly.
In this project i struggled the most on the ranges because the calculations needed to be correct and since i did the first range wrong it became harder, When i got stuck like that i got some help by my brother and my calculator which helped me got pass the challenge. After this project i think i could change my habit of doing projects last minute so that i can focous on more detailed projects.
While in class my Deskmate William was doing his GSP, and i asked him if he can help give me feedback on my choropleth map and he said i could improve on the overall colour scheme, after i asked him if i can see his project and i saw that mine was more difficult to differentiate the different colours. After that i could see mine was very hard to tell apart and i couldn't change it because i already coloured it.
In here i think the biggest improvement is the map's calculation is better then the taiwan's because in the old one i comletlyu missed the new taipei part. But in here i think the colour shading is really messed up and needs more differents shadesleading to a harder difference bettween the colours. In here i did the map calculations based on the taiwan's map and i struggeld with the scales but i did find the rest easy, from that i think i learned to do the calculations more carefully from the taiwan map and for the rest i followed along. After showing my siblings to ask for improvements they saild my map's colour was almost the same and that i neededs more labels so they would know what i was trying to show and i think is that i would want to change.
