[Weekly Reflections]
[Weekly Reflections]
1. Describe your first week of mathematics class, in two or more sentences.
2. Are there any topics you are learning this semester that you are afraid of or worried about? (Algebra, Statistics or Geometry)
3. What new mathematics words have you learned this week?
4. Do you feel like you understand algebra better?
5. What are things you do not like about math class?
6. If you could change one thing about math class what would it be?
This is the first week of this semester, I feel confidence in this week, every new words, and things I know, and can understand well, it's easy for me. We got new seats, and partners, so that I can also build a new relationship with new students and people I don't know really well. I'm not fraid or worried about what we are going to learn this semester because I learned them before, but now is hard for me because of using English, but I'm sure I can do well on this semester. There's some new words I learned this week, for examples: "Variables, Constants, Coefficients, Monomials, Binomials, Trinomials, Quandranomial, Pentanomial, and Symbols." Through this week, I understand English version more, I can read those questions, and solve them without asking "What is that word? What does it mean?" Talk about the part I don't like about this math class, might be MYSELF, because I should and could go to Grade 8 level, but I stuck in the vocabulary part the most, I did learn a lot of topics that we've been learning from the day I get into VIS to now before I get into this school, but I just can't understand those words. So the one thing I want to change in this math class is ME, and nothing else. I need too keep improving that faster than ever before, so when I graduate I can connect to high school easier, and HAVE the qualifications to go to VIS Senior High.
Week 2 Reflection
1. Describe your second week of mathematics class in two or more sentences.
2. Do you thinking learning Algebra Vocabulary has made understanding algebra easier?
3. Were you able to understand how to simplify algebraic expressions, why or why not?.
4. Give two reasons that make you think you are getting better at math?
5. Give two reasons that make you think you are not as good as you could be at math?
6. What are two things you do not like about math class or the way topics are being taught?
Give suggestions on how you would like it?
7. Do you think we are learning things too slowly or too quickly? Do you think you are learning too many things too soon?
8. Would you like more time to complete tasks? e.g. worksheets or examples in class
My second week mathematics classes was good? I can understand very first 3 days classes, but as long as we get into next parts, I couldn't understand very well, so I still need to peactice, and ask. I think I did understand Algebra easier but not so well, I cannot finish worksheets by my own, it's little bit hard for me, but I did improved my Algebra. I can be able to simplify algebratic expressions, but not very well, I might know all of how these expressions works somehow, but have some difficulty about how to do. I have some reasons for why my math is getting better, and not as good as I could be at math... So, first, I can feel that when I am calculating, I'm faster than before, I can remember those English math vocabulary more, I can solve problems by my own without asking "What does that means?" lesser than before. For the reason why I think that I'm getting better and not as good as I could be at math is because I clearly feel that I have been improving my calculate skills are getting faster and faster, and I can understand more words and what the teacher says. In the negative part, I'm still not really good at understand the EVERY WORDS THAT I FROM BEFORE IN CHINESE WAY... I know I'm improving but might be too, or little bit slow for me, which is 8th grader, and when things getting harder, I will slowly getting can't handle, I know everything that we are learning, will or were learning, but it's really hard in English, so I need to put more and more efforts on searching, and remember them. Talk about things I dislike about math class might be, when in the future we are going to RANDOMLY SPEREATE into a few groups, but I think it's better to choose just one, at least one person you know to be with group mates, so when 3~5 people are working together, students won't be too embarrassing, individual, and spereate doing the project. Second dislike thing is also myself, I could have chance to go to next level, which is the highest, and the one that for 8th graders, I know this is a awesome system for every student to go to the most suitable placement for each of us, but I feel like if I am still in this level, I won't be able to have enough prepare for go to high school. I think this is a great speed for me to learn these topics and knowledge, I feel this speed is good for everyone, we can have enough and comfortable time to learn things well understanding, great timing. Because I'm learning the things that I learned before, so it will be no such a things called "Too early to learn it." I would like to have more time to complete the worksheets, because for the person like me need some time to understand those words, and questions, so for example: "My friends are started writing 4th question, I might just started writing the 1st question."
1. This week we learned about algebra patterns and direct proportion, which of the two did you find more difficult?
2. Was it confusing that the work term is used both in algebra statements and algebra patterns?
3. Between algebra patterns and direct proportion which topic was easier? Why? did you think or feel it was easy?
4. What new mathematics words have you learned this week?
5. What are two things you do like about math class or the way topics are being taught?
Give suggestions on how you would like it?
6. What are two things you do not like about math class or the way topics are being taught?
Give suggestions on how you would like it?
I feel like direct proportion is more difficult than algebra patterns because it has a lot of new things and signs for me , and it has many types to shows it, so it's little bit of messy and not well-understanding to me, but I'll keep practicing.
1. This week we have review direct proportion, looked into rates of change and linear equations and linear graphs, of the stated topics which one do you feel you understood the least?
2. Which of the topics we did this week, did you understand the most?
3. Explain one of the the concepts we learned about this week and describe an activity we did in class which demonstrated the concept.
4. Explain the process of drawing a line from an equation?
5. Explain how to calculate the "m" of a line if you only have the graph?
6. Do you think this week was easier or harder than past weeks?
7. Do you think we are learning things too slowly or too quickly? Do you think you are learning too many things too soon?
8. Would you like more time to complete tasks? e.g. worksheets or examples in class
After this week, the linear equations
1. Do you think solving algebraic equations was easy or difficult?
2. Were you surprised how much vocabulary we have learned in algebra?
3. Do you feel like the practice work we did before your notes helped to get ready?
4. Did you feel prepared for the quiz? What did you do to prepare for the quiz? was what you did to prepare enough?
The algebraic equations was not too difficult for me
1. Did you feel like you had enough examples while you learning coding.2. Do you think coding is difficult because you have to type everything exactly or because you do not understand it?
3. If you learning coding before how did you learn it? If this was your first time learning programing describe your experience learning it in my class.
4. Would you want to continue learning programming?

8. Do you think the notes are helping you to understand or are they just a waste of time? Do you read them, if yes how has it help you. If no they why, are they too long or too difficult to read.
During this week, I learned new, totally new things. Statistic makes me confuse but also it's a great challenge and chance for me to improve my math skill, every part is a challenge for me. Mr. Francis use a suitable way to teach this, by making us do the easy level and slowly stepping in to the harder level, so that makes us can
1. How do you feel this week went compared to previous weeks? Was it more difficult or less difficult than other weeks? Explain why in one to two sentences.
2. This week we work with many different graphs and charts, which one do you think is the easiest to work with and why?
3. The Statistics Unit is ending soon, do you feel ready for the End of Unit Quiz, if yes then explain why? If not then explain what you will do to prepare.
4. Name and describe at least 3 ways that graphs can be misleading. In your own words explain why a company or business or group would want a misleading graph.
5. What was an example or calculation done in class this week that help you understand statistics better? Write the date it was done and describe it in one sentence and in another sentence how it helped you.
6. What are two things you do not like about math class or the way topics are being taught?
Give suggestions on how you would like it?
I feel better in this week, than the last week. Because things we learned this week is very easy to understand, and the chart is a simple but has many kinds, and sometimes it'll be a little bit confusing, but I love this kind of challenges, harder and in my level, under my control
1. Were you surprised how much vocabulary we have learned in statistics? How useful were the notes and vocabulary list?
2. Do you feel like the practice work we did before helped to get ready?
3. Which words are you going to look out for in questions in the quiz? Are you ready to read clearly because the words will not be highlighted, what can you do to get ready for that?
4. Was statistics an easier or harder topic than you thought? What made it harder or easier?
5. Did you feel prepared for the quiz? What did you do to prepare for the quiz?
Overall, I'm not surprised by the vocabulary, things that keep surprising are the calculate parts, it bother me a lot by making me confused and overthinking
1. What was the experience of doing the project in groups?
2. Did you apply you learning in statistics to help complete this project?
3. Were the instructions clear and helpful or did you find them confusing?

5. What was a challenges that your team faced and how did your team overcome it, if not challenges then why did you team work well together?
6. Were there any new words and new concepts you encountered in the project?
This project group work is not that bad, but I can't understand so I need to bother or stop my teammates works to get their help, they are always be welcoming to me
