How did you feel during the placement test?
Were you surprised that you could use a calculator?
Did the calculator make the test easier?
Which questions were still hard?
What do you think about your first week of math class?(2 or 3 sentences)
The placement test was the same ending as my expectation because I knew I'm bad at math, especially using English. I am really, super shocked about students can use calculator to do all the works, no matter is test, homework, worksheet, math book, and it's in school! In the traditional school we couldn't use that, we can only use our brain, hands, and tools from pencil case, but VIS is not a traditional school, so it's reasonable~ I don't like to use calculator because I'm good at mental math, it's fast and easier for me doing works without calculator. The biggest question is "Use English to learn Math," this is a big question that I need to solve otherwise it's impossible for me to improve and get into the next level. The first week of math class is easy? The reason why I say it's easy is because it's the beginning of this semester, so everything starts easily. I also make a new friend, Cooper.
Week 2 Reflection
Was week 2 of math class harder or easier than week 1? why?
Was week 2 more fun or less fun than week 1? why?
Did you work with new class mates in week 2? how was the experience?
Are you excited or nervous for your team for project 1?
Have you learned anything new in math class this week?
Were you surprised by anything done in math class this week? Explain your experience?
State 2 goals you have for next week? (2 or 3 sentences)
In my opinion, this week's math class is a little bit harder than week 1 because we started to use more math teskbook, exploring some chapters, and we also have some group work, so this week is more challenging than last week but it's still easy for me. Next, I feel like week 1 & 2 has different fun parts so they don't have more or less fun for me because in the first week, we have more group and class games for us to knowing others, those people you don't know, know but not friends or well-known, and bring back those friends' feelings, after a long summer break we need time to find our heart of learning and friends. In this week, we have more works but not a lot to do, but we also have some Gimkit games and group work to play, and we also changed our teammates, so that we can know more about each others! So! As I mentioned about we have changed our teammates, we probably need to face to some problems of "Feel uncomfortable and embarrasing about work with new classmates, need to restart your friend zone, need to know more people again!" And actually is not that bad to work with new people, I've got "Aaron & Sher Ryn," They are very nice to me, and when we were discuss about the group and class game, we were having some laughs and fun, for examples: "Making questions for ask everyone in class about 4 truths & 1 lie, discussing questions"

6. Do you think a project should only be done in class or should also include working at home?
7. Are you able to do a presentation about your boardgame and Canva book? Do you think presentations in education are effective? Why?
Are there any other things you would like to say?
During this week we have made our group board game, Canva book, Google doc summaries. I'm confident about our team to finish the board game on time because we have discuss and give each teammates their job, so we can do things faster, and easier. We have finished our Canva book, Flash Cards, Google Doc Summaries, and Board game. I feel I’m able to be creative in the project, especially “designing the pages’ color, and background.” It’s fun to create all of these work with my teammates, we have a lots of joy during making the projects. These projects has some connection between them, connections of math knowledge, to show what we learned so far, helps us prepare for the tests and final, to go deep in of what we have learned, and the reason why they all connect to project 1 is because every project needs project 1's help to finish, for examples: "Each Topic, Informations, questions, examples, methods, and other things." Talk about work together, I felt teamwork is much important than I think in during we're making those projects, I couldn't finish all by myself, it'll spend so so much time more than working together. This is a good experience for me, figure out my questions with teammates, also build relationships, build knowledge in my mind, and find the sense of accomplishment. I could do better on my speed, because I'm bad at understanding math in English, so I was always writing, typing, and making these projects slowly, that makes me can't help my team as much as other teammates help. I actually don't have so much communicate problem, the main problem I need to fix is only sometimes I'll have different opinions with my teammates, then we couldn't find our consensus at that moment, need to talk and discuss more. In my opinion, doing project 1 giving me a great influence for the quiz 2 because I can check and prepare those things that I don't really understand well by using that project 1, no matter is Canva book, Google Doc Summaries, even the board game does. I feel like better in learning math in English, but still cannot do well, it's really difficult for me to learn and do in English ways. I think we should work our project in school and home, both, because in school is the main time we need to do the project, but it's impossible to finish all of the projects in one class during the school class time, so we should keep continuing the work after school, like at home. I think I can present our works, like board game, Canva Book, but I might need my teemmates to help me during presenting, and the presentation is important because it can shows what you learned, didn't understand well, and what can you improve, but it these can shows in different ways, so have or have not will be fine with both.
1. How prepared do you feel for Final exams?
2. Did you miss Gimkit and are you happy to be playing Gimkit games again?
3. What methods do you normally use to prepare for exams?
4. Do you think you could read your own study guide to prepare for Final Exam?
5. How has your team changed since working on your project? Are you going to choose team mates differently moving forward, either in math class or in school in general?
In week 13, I have prepared some parts of the Math Final Exam, and during after school time, I review the things we learned that day. I miss Gimkit so much, we can training and having fun at the same time, we all want to win, so that makes us working harder and harder for answer "more questions, more energy." Gimkit can also helps us have a small break after a long hard working. I normally will look at the worksheets to prepare that exams, and if I have some questions or misunderstanding parts, then I go to search for the math tesk book. And I can read the Study Guide by my own because during our group and I were making the study guide I'll ask for those parts that I don't know, so after we finally finished the study guide, I already understand most of things in the study guide. Lastly, I think our group have a great time during making the study guide, even though we'll have some argument, sometimes serious, and sometimes just small, not big deal. I might choose different but not all people of our teammate, like just one.
Did you encounter any interesting problems within the practice work done this week?
Did you think that so many situations in real life use mathematics?
Were your friends able to help you with problems you do not understand
Time pass so fast, it's like I just get into VIS was yesterday, now... I only have half year left. Looking back at this semester, many things happened, everything went more well than my expectation, I made many friends, learn many things, but every we learned during this semester, I think I already learned before, but I was learned by Chinese (Last school), so now we are learning in English, I felt less confidence by using English, but things will getting better, and it did, I have learned a lot of professional words of math, study skills, percentage, flashcard, and more. As I mentioned, I have learned a lot, but nothing is perfect, I still have a lot of things to improve, for examples, like "Understand the math professional words better, calculate questions faster." I notice that the main reason that makes me being slow in caculating or think is because of "My English is terrifying, and that makes me couldn't understand many words, so I always stuck at some parts of the question," I wish I can improve the vocabulary more well. Next, talk about doing things, and learning things, there always have friends, and teammates, so now I'll tell you about the strong teamwork that I have experience... First! The final group that I have is the group that I dicussed with teammates, the "Strawberry Elephant." This team we have Max, Jayden, Jonathan, and me of course, we know each other already, and we are friends, because last semester which is the semester that I got into VIS, I was in 7th grade, and Jayden, Max, and Jonathan are in the 6th grade,
