Chance is our new topic for this week. There are some powerpoints to introduce you to the topic and some activities from your Mathemagic book along with others that you can complete.
Better Maths: Unit 30 - The answers to last week's Unit 29 are also below.
This week we are covering the story "Seán McSharry" and accompanying exercises.
Also this week we are looking at some grammar. There is a powerpoint along with some posters to explain prepositions. These should help you complete the activities that go with them.
Birds are a common feature in our gardens but do we actually know what we are looking at? This week we are going to be birdwatchers! We will learn the names and identifying features of common birds found in our gardens.
Keeping active is the best way of keeping our minds and bodies healthy. When you find yourself feeling a bit down , groggy or grumpy try get some physical activity to release some endorphins and get the energy flowing again.
There is a plethora of work for you to choose from in Art this week . As always the choice is yours as to how many you choose to try. Be sure to send me your finished products I can't wait to see how they turn out.
"worrying is like walking around with an umbrella up waiting for it to rain"
This week we will be looking at our worries and how we can find healthy ways of coping with them.
How about trying a different instrument this week?!
Before you get started on this weeks activities, we'd really love it if you could take some time to complete this 'Rainbow Moments' form with your child. Hopefully you will have some fun together filling it out and we can't wait to hear all your answers!
Pick some spellings (maybe 7 or 8) and see if you can learn them by the end of the week!

Below are the answers to Better Maths Unit 29.
There are three differentiated comprehensions here based on the same information. Choose the one that appeals to you and complete the answers.
Find a comfortable spot in your garden. Use the photo cards and the bird hunt checklist to see how many of the birds can you identify.
Choose two birds that interest you and using the fact files above research and write some information about them.
Birds can unknowingly eat litter or feed it to their babies in the nest.
Use these templates as a guide to create a bird scene, they can be on a singular branch, a whole flock in a tree or a lone ranger on the roof of a house! Options are limitless , let your imagination loose.
Identify the lines and shapes first. This will make drawing easier.
Now all we are doing is adding more birds! Remember focus on the lines and shapes individually rather than the whole picture.
For this one patience is key! Start with the tree branch and work your way out from there.
Everybody has worries. Mams, dads, teachers , children, even our pets! Worries are normal and part of life. But it is how we deal with our worries that is very important. Read this story on the 'Huge Bag of Worries' and complete the exercises below.
Draw a big bag and inside it write or draw(or both) a collage of all the things big or small that you worry about. Sometimes just acknowledging our worries can be enough to calm them.
Put a circle around the most worrying worry in the bag. Look at it , give it the fiercest look you can give it and tell it with meaning " you WILL NOT survive here" .Talk to it like it's a real thing on your page. Give it a real piece of you mind.
Write or draw a worry (big or small) you have on the bottom of a page, put a circle around it. Above that worry I want you to draw as many colourful pictures as you can, write as many memories, gratitude s, things that you love all over the page. Bombard that worry with all the greatness, beauty and colour you have in your life.
How we speak to ourselves can have a huge impact on how we feel about our worries. Make a pact with yourself to say at least five of the above to yourself at least once a day.
Some people learn better by having concrete, physical things they can touch as reminders of the lesson. If this sounds like you try make this affirmation cube.
Plank - keep core tight, don't arch your back!
Burpee - basically jump up, jump down to plank and jump up again.
Quiet your mind while being active at the same time with some yoga poses. Healthy mind and healthy body !
You literally can't stop the feeling once you start dancing to this one. Dance like nobody's watching : You've Got This!
Why not try a new instrument this week? Here is the link to a virtual piano. It will help you play Mary Had a Little Lamb! All you need to do is press the yellow keys. After that you can play any notes or tunes on the piano that you wish. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP TO PLAY THIS PIANO! If you click on note names it will show you the notes. Maybe you could use your tin whistle notes to try a few tunes? There is also a link to another virtual piano that might be even more fun to use!
