Massage and Body works

Massage therapy is the practice of manipulating an individual's muscles, soft tissues, and fascia to remove muscular blockages, also known as "knots," to reduce pain/swelling, and increase blood and Qi circulation. Massage therapy has been shown to be beneficial for conditions such as prenatal depression, skin conditions, arthritis, fibromyalgia, sports injuires and musculoskeletal pain such as neck and back pain.

Here at Yuyu Acupuncture, my signature massage is the harmonic blend of East and West. I combine the relaxing, soothing aspect from Swedish massage with deep tissue work and acupoint therapy from Eastern Deep tissue and Tui Na. This is one of my popular modalities because it is intense body work therapy but very relaxing at the same time. It will rarely feel uncomfortable from too much pressure, in the same area, like how many mainstream massages are.

Tui Na

At Yuyu Acupuncture, I specialize in Tui Na massage. Tui Na is a therapeutic massage modality from China and its name translates to "Pull Grab" also known as Acupressure. It makes use of rhythmic compression techniques along different meridians to warm and relax the body, unblcok Qi and blood accumulations, and harmonize yin and yang in the body. Tui Na has been shown to be effective for acute trauma to joints, muscles, and skeletal system. Its beneficial in reducing the pain of neck, shoulders, hips, back, arms, highs, legs and ankle disorders. Its also very effective therapy for arthritis, pain, sciatica and muscle spasms. Other benefits of this massage therapy include alleviation of the stress related disorders like insomnia, constipation, headaches and other disorders related to digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems. Patients are normally clothed during a Tui Na session.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage is another specialty here at Yuyu Acupuncture. Lymphatic Drainage Massage differs from Swedish massage or Deep Tissue massage by its use of light pressure and aim to detoxify the body. Lymphatic Drainage utilizes very light pressure to promote the circulation of the lymphatic system. The Lymphatic system, unlike the cardiovascular system, doesn't have a pump to help its circulation. Therefore Lymphatic Drainage massage strokes are aimed at areas of the body with lymph nodes. Lymphatic Drainage is useful for weight-loss, detoxification, skin conditions, and is recently popular for cancer pain and chemo-therapy detox.
