Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is a very powerful adjunctive care to acupuncture. A combination of herbs is used to create a balanced, synergistic effect that reflects the holistic nature of the diagnosis. Herbs can help supplement and strengthen the body or reduce excess from the body like cold or fever. Herbal formulas are derived from an ancient text called Classic of Materia Medica and can be customized to appropriately for each individual. Recommendations can be taken by either decocting the herbs into a tea, as a powder or granule, or patent formula.

External herbal formulas are also available for acute, sub-acute, and chronic pain. There are external herbal formulas for getting rid of bone spurs, strengthening ligaments and tendons, and warming or cooling the muscles.

Herbal medicine is a great way to maintain treatment even when you're not able to visit the acupuncturist. It is home therapy and will get you, the patient, more involved with your health which will in turn empower you, or the patient, by taking responsibility for your health, becoming more knowledgeable, and taking action.
