'פלחים' | 'SEGMENTS'
The "Technology Analogue" residency at THIYA 14, Tel Aviv.
The project presents a family of illuminated bodies that combine wood and citrus fruits. Created in a unique process to turn citrus peels into bio-plastic, while maintaining their natural textures and creating a durable and flexible material.
I explored connections between the thin and transparent fruit sheets and wooden rings, with the wood acting as a catcher and giving shape and construction. The bases of the bodies are made from recycled industrial cylinders that finished their first role in the workshop at THIYA 14 and underwent renovation and coating with high-quality veneer.
As part of the residency 7 designers teamed up with artisans and small businesses. For two months, work together to develop innovative design or art works for this exhibition.
I collaborated with "Estabile" carpentry and Avi Rafian together we had an open and curious dialogue towards the material and its value, which combines the rich knowledge of carpentry with a unique approach to raw materials and design.
