A single exhibition curator of Galit Gaon and Michal Niv
The materials created in the studio, preserve and radiate the qualities, the inner and the joy of the orange. The reuse and repurpose of the orange waste, using diverse processing methods, especially here, at the restored ‘Beit Ha-beer’, echo the tints, smells, tastes and, sounds of the past.
The well house stood as a palace surrounded by the Jaffa orchard lands. The well, located inside the building, served as the source of irrigation for the nearby orchards. These orchards supported the residents, Arabs and Jews, for many generations

piece by piece, thread by thread, the material and human stories are interwoven into a quilt of flickering light and textures. The products are surprising in their semblance to skin: sometimes thin, vulnerable, and delicate and sometimes stiff, hard and rough.
The work tools created especially for these processes are no less fascinating than the products. These tools preserve craft traditions, hand motions and memories of a local culture from another period of prosperity and flourish.
Simultaneously with the material research of orange peels, which started prior to the residency at ‘Beit Ha-beer’, Yuli held a dialogue with local women about material, history and creative processes that rely on the past and think about the future.
The exhibits in this show conclude a research process, which will proceed to develop outside ‘Beit Ha-beer’, while the building space will continue holding sweet traces of the making and collaborating, memories of light and an appetite for more ...
