This strand applies CA methodology to the study of L2 classroom talk, examining how teachers and students co-construct participation, learning opportunities, and intersubjectivity through sequential interaction.
Topics include:
• Third-turn repeats in ESL and EFL classroom interaction
• Discourse-initiating utterances (DIUs) in IRF sequences in synchronous online and offline EFL lessons
• Task-in-process during information-gap activities in Korean middle school classrooms
• Procedural display and shadowing in Korean kindergarten English lessons
Data span a range of L2 settings — ESL, EFL, and synchronous online — including video-recorded lessons from Korean primary, secondary, and university classrooms.
