Modeling of human interaction

How do competent speakers who hold subtly divergent representations of the words they share nonetheless sustain mutual understanding? Interactional and interactive-alignment research has established that repair helps maintain this coordination, but not how much coordinative work any single repair mechanism would have to do. In this research strand I try to model important coordination mechanisms that are commonly found in human-human interaction including repair practices.
