- 2 cups of flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp shortening
- 3/4 cup of heavy cream
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 cup (or a handful) of dried cranberries
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Combine flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar.
- Cut in the shortening and butter.
- Mix the beaten egg with the cream. Add these to the dry ingredients and mix with a spatula, then by hand until you can form a ball.
- Turn out onto work surface and roll to between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut out 12 scones, then bake on large sheet pan lined with parchment paper for 15 minutes.
