Track Assets

The Pit-Stop Building

The most important asset to me when when thinking of an F1 type of race is the Pit-Stop building. This building really fills in the gap that is missing around this track and makes the whole feel of the track much more real. This building was very simple and basic without much detail. I didn't want this model to take up too much time as i wanted to get to the cars as soon as i could.

References
The first stages of this structure was making sure i had some reference images to work with. I know a fair bit about formula 1 so it was very easy to come across and i managed to gather myself some images to help me create this building.

The Progression of the building

To create the building i got a cube and made it rectangular. I would then move onto creating the front garages for all the teams that are in a real Formula 1 race. This would mean i would need to create 9 swift loops. After the garages are marked i would then inset and extrude in the front faces to look like separate garages. The next step would be to create the radio tower on the top. This would be for where the people commentate over the whole race. The way this was done was by inseting and extrude alot to create the window shaps and the little lips around them. After that was done the model was basically complete. The last things i needed to do was colour it and then reshape it abit.

Adding colour

The first part of this stage was to create the materials. I made sure they were fitting the real structure and that they weren't so shiny as its all concrete.

Reshaping

The next thing i did was give the roof a little lip around the edge to give it some shape. I then resize the garages as they looked too small for me and finally added the remaining colours.

final product

And here it is. The final product of the Pit-stop building.  This model was aimed to look like the real thing but as i was going low poly i didn't want to catch too much detail.
