I have studied more than twenty texts in my Graduation. On this page I have shared an overview of some texts.

1. Tughlaq - A play by Girish Karnad

‘Tughlaq’ is Karnad’s second play written in 1964; the play was originally written in Kannada and then translated in Kannada by Karnad himself. It is all about the life of Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq who has ruled in India in 14^th century.

2. The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Stevenson

The novella is a science fiction and clearly suggests the unfulfilled human desires, which forces a person to choose inappropriate way to fulfil that.

3. "Far From the Madding Crowd” by Thomas Hardy

This novel has five main characters and all are connected with each other in different way. The hero of the novel is Gabriel Oak and the heroine is Bathsheba Everdene and the story revolves these characters lives.

4. All My Sons - A play by Arthur Miller

This play is a Shakespearean Tragedy with modern language. This play has various elements like it has ideal characters and also the characters with lack of patriotism.

5. The Nightingale and The Rose - Oscar Wilde

Love is not easy to understand, a boy was an immature school boy and for him love is not his cup of tea. The story contains underline satire on love and sacrifice that it does not matter how much you love or you sacrifice for someone, there is no value of it.

6. The Trunk of Ganesha - Jayanta Mahapatra

The story of “The Trunk of Ganesha” is mostly offers a reader the difference between superstition and logical reality. Indians have blind beliefs as far as religion is concerned and Jayanta Mahapatra has tried to convince the reader that all the time it’s not all about God and Goddess and anger of them, but logic also exits.

7. Moby Dick - Herman Melville

In “Moby Dick” a novel, Captain Ahab wants to kill the white whale, which he calls Moby Dick. He had lost his one leg in encounter with Moby Dick. He wanted to take revenge with the whale. In his revenge he has involved innocent people and all have died at the end.

8. The Proposal - By Anton Chekhov

The play has facts with humor. Chekhov has presented realism and expressionism in his witty style. He has presented his hero and heroine with different than archetypal hero-heroine, they are pure and real human beings with faults.

9. A Cup of Tea - Katherine Mansfield

This is a simple story with deep meaning. It is like a satire on artificiality in feelings of rich towards poor. Social work was a medium for some rich men and women for being generous and great among others.

10. Quality - John Galsworthy

The short story Quality was published in 1912. “Quality” contains the autobiographical elements of Galsworthy’s life. It is a story of boot maker who used to make boots for Galsworthy’s father. It describes the life of Mr. Gessler who has lost his shop and business of boot making because of industrialization.

11. The Postmaster by Rabindranath Tagore

This short story is all about the attachment and detachment of human souls with worldly relations. Postmaster got transfer in the village name Ulapur. He was a citizen and suddenly his demotion from “Citizen” to “Villager” was unbearable for him. The village’s remoteness and dirt irritated him and his departure with his family was also hurting him.

12. The Monkey’s Paw by W. W. Jacobs

In this story, Jacobs has focused upon the superstition but in a different way. The story is full of suspense and we can feel the thrill while reading it. The story contains the effect of sound and it creates the horrific environment for the reader.

13. ‘The Tiger Smiled’ By James Edward ‘Jim’ Corbett

Jim Corbett has given the description of Tigress and also described it smile, which was like a dog welcoming his master. He shot. The bullet has injured the spine of tigress and she was dead.

14. The Hairy Ape - by Eugene O'Neill

The play is all about the self search of Yank and how he faces the reality of the world. He is not a good thinker but still tries to think and feels the he has not such identity on which he can proud.
