Overview

Problem Statement: “Singaporeans find it difficult to locate lost items because the current methods of returning and retrieval of such items are ineffective.”

Project Scope: Tasked to hypothesize a problem and follow the step-by-step UX process to build a solution conducted in 3 milestones: Research, Prototype and Final Product.

foundit is an imaginary lost and found app that helps ease the return and retrieval processes of lost items in Singapore.

It was created as part of a UI/UX module in Digipen where the goal was to come up with a high fidelity mobile application from base in the span of 12 weeks.

Product Vision

The main goal of foundit was to aid users in the lost and found process. To ensure that, we dived into indepth research with a survey conducted to streamline our target audience and focus for the application as to the user's painpoints.

To ensure that our application stands out, further competitor research were done to sift out the goods that we may include in our app. Documentation of research and infographics were all done in Canva.

Research

After streamlining down our target audiences, the team decided to come up with personas to help determine what the users potentially want or need in the app. As our team is working on a lost and found app, we decided to come up with an anti persona as well, so as to prevent the possibilities of misusage from the user's side. User journey were created to note path taken by the users. This helps speed up the process when creating the wireframes for our app so as to know priority screens to work on.

From this we were able to pinpoint the main features of our app:

SingPass Log-In - Facilitates a more efficient process for onboarding, allowing the users to skip a step in keying in their personal information.

“Last Location Tracking” - The app remembers your last seen locations and shows you how to get there!

QR Code System - Making lost and found property reports is just a scan away!

In-App Messaging System - No need to sift through thousands of spam messages!

Wireframes

Based on our research and the features that are app has, we came up with a few simple wireframes to ensure that the flow was cohesive. After ensuring that the flow of the wireframes were working well and making some minor adjustment to spacing and padding, we went on to to finalizing our style guide before creating the high-fidelity mockups. Wireframes and Mockups were all done in Figma.

Design Process

Before creating our high-fidelity mockups, we needed to finalized on the design side of the application. This includes style guide, typography and iconography, as well as any elements that we would include in our application.
