If Prime Video titles won’t play or you see error codes such as 1007, 1022, 5001, 7003, 7005, 7031, 7135, 7202, 7203, 7204, 7206, 7207, 7230, 7250, 7251, 7301, 7303, 7305, 7306, 8020, 9003, or 9074, the issue is usually related to the app, device software, network connection, or account usage.
Use the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve most Prime Video error codes.
Start with these general steps, which fix most playback errors:
Close the Prime Video app on your device (or close the web browser if watching on a computer).
Restart your device (Smart TV, Fire TV Stick, tablet, phone, or computer).
Reopen Prime Video and try playing the title again.
Outdated software is a common cause of Prime Video errors.
Chrome: Enter chrome://settings/help in the address bar to check for updates, or go to Menu > Help > About Google Chrome.
Firefox: Select Menu > Help > About Firefox to check for updates.
Fire Tablet: Go to Settings > Device Options > System Updates > Check Now.
Fire TV / Fire TV Stick: Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates.
Make sure you’re not using the same Amazon account on too many devices.
Prime Video allows streaming the same title on up to two devices at the same time.
If you recently signed in on a new TV using amazon.com/mytv, try signing out on unused devices.
If you’re watching on a TV or external display:
Ensure your device is connected using an HDMI cable compatible with HDCP 1.4 (HD content) or HDCP 2.2 (UHD / HDR content).
Try a different HDMI port or cable if available.
Prime Video error codes often appear due to unstable or restricted connections.
Pause other internet activity on your network.
Restart your modem and router.
Make sure your device shows as connected to the internet.
If other devices can connect but Prime Video still fails:
Update your device’s DNS settings (check with the device manufacturer for instructions).
Turn off any VPN or proxy server you’re using.
If controlling playback with Alexa, try unpairing and re-pairing the device in the Alexa app.
If errors continue on a Smart TV or Fire TV:
Sign out of Prime Video.
Restart the device.
Sign in again, or re-register the TV using the code at amazon.com/mytv.
Most Prime Video error codes are temporary and can be resolved by restarting the app, updating the device, checking your internet connection, or re-registering your TV through Amazon MyTV. If the problem continues after trying all steps, waiting a short time and trying again often helps.
