Use the following tips to get your blank or unresponsive screen working again.
Note:
When you start or stop streaming a title in 4K Ultra HD, your TV screen may flicker or turn black for up to five seconds. This behavior is normal.
Restart your Fire TV device.
Use the connection equipment that came with your Fire TV device.
Turn on any A/V receivers or sound bars connected to your Fire TV and switch them to the correct input, or connect your Fire TV directly to the TV.
Disconnect the Fire TV device from the HDMI port and plug it back in.
Try replacing your HDMI cable or HDMI hub (not included).
Use a High-Speed HDMI cable (not included) for 4K Ultra HD streaming.
Match your TV remote’s source or input button to the HDMI port your Fire TV is connected to.
Use Fire TV’s network status tool to identify and fix connection issues.
Select Settings > Network from the Fire TV menu.
Press Play/Pause on your remote and follow the recommended steps.
If the issue continues:
Use the connectors and cables that came with your Fire TV device.
Confirm you’re entering your Wi-Fi password, not your Amazon account password.
Store your Fire TV in an open area (not in closets or enclosed spaces).
Restart your Fire TV device and your home network equipment (modem/router).
If you’re still having trouble pairing your remote, try the following:
Replace the batteries in your Fire TV remote.
Move the remote within 10 feet (3 meters) of the Fire TV device.
Unplug the Fire TV device from power, then plug it back in.
Use the Fire TV app to pair your remote.
If seven controllers are already paired, remove one before pairing another.
If your home theater setup isn’t working:
Confirm your Echo and Fire TV devices support the home theater feature.
Make sure both devices are registered to the same Amazon account.
Check that all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and frequency band.
Ensure the Alexa app on your mobile device is updated.
Force close and reopen the Alexa app.
Make sure all devices are running the latest software version.
Restart your devices and wait a few minutes before playing content.
If one or more Echo speakers aren’t playing audio:
Verify your devices are compatible with home theater mode.
Confirm your Echo speakers show as online in the Alexa app.
Connect all devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
Turn up the speaker volume.
Try playing content from a different streaming app.
Select the correct home theater audio option on Fire TV.
Restart all devices in the home theater group.
If the issue continues, delete the home theater group in the Alexa app and set it up again.
To manage gaming audio, volume control, or lip sync:
Go to Settings on your Fire TV.
Select Display & Sounds > Home Theater System.
Adjust the available on-screen options as needed.
If your Fire TV won’t power on:
Replace the batteries in your remote.
Use the original power cable and adapter that came with the device.
Unplug the power cord for several seconds, then plug it back in.
Press the TV’s source or input button and match it to the correct HDMI port.
Use a high-speed HDMI cable.
Plug the Fire TV directly into the TV instead of an HDMI hub.
If your Fire TV is stuck on the logo screen:
Restart the Fire TV device.
Temporarily disconnect the power cord, then reconnect it.
Use the original power adapter to ensure sufficient power.
Leave the device on for up to 25 minutes to allow it to complete startup.
Try a different HDMI port or remove any HDMI extender.
Confirm your TV supports HDCP.
If possible, test the Fire TV on a different TV.
If the issue persists, reset your Fire TV device to factory settings.
