Hey friends!
I have a few resources here to prep you for your shifts. By no means do you need to purchase any of these applications or review all material to completion; this is moreso to scratch the anxious itch to feel some type of preparness for your month in the Children's ED!
1. On shift resources: MobilEM by EMRA will have a variety of information, most importantly a mini Peds EM handbook and airway management medications / equiptment sizes!
2. Another on shift resource: Pedi STAT has all your immediate dosing guidelines to help, either based off age or weight!
3. ALiEM has a variety of excellent material, I think this being a great one on HALO presentations (we use that word a lot in EM, meaning High Acuity, Low Opportunity). I would run through the simulations and review the saliant points of evaluation, physical exam, and resuscitation.
4. Similarly, SAEM has a wonderful curricilum that you can review at your leisure!
5. Finally, a wonderful continued education website that reviews the latest literature or hot topics in pediatric EM: Morsels!
I would know PALS and NRP like the back of your hand - you won’t be expected to run the show alone but certainly lead with guidance and perform procedures such as intraosseous (IO) insertion! Otherwise, just relax and have fun - take in all the learning and you will do wonderfully!
V/R,
Matthew
