The West Stokes Band of Excellence is proud to offer a marching band opportunity for any music student at West Stokes High School. Students wishing to participate in marching band as a wind performer or percussionist are required to be registered for band in the fall semester. Students wishing to participate as colorguard members are not required to register for band, but it is highly recommended.
The time commitment for marching band is substantial: we rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday after school, perform at Friday night Varsity Football games, march in community parades, and compete in 3-5 marching band competitions on Saturdays in the month of October.
Our marching band season begins in late July or early August at our annual band camp. Band camp is the place where the team comes together and begins the process of becoming a performing family. At band camp, we learn the basics of all marching movements and begin learning music for the field show as well as stand tunes.
