Jazz Ensemble

In addition to our class ensembles, the West Stokes band program offers another 100% extracurricular band opportunity: jazz ensemble.

Our jazz ensemble picks up after marching season ends in early November and usually performs a short set prior to the winter concert held in Mid-December. In the spring semester, our jazz band rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday after school and performs annually at their own concert held at the Arts Place in Danbury, NC. Additionally, the jazz ensemble travels to the City of the Arts jazz festival held at Ronald Reagan High School in late April, where they perform a short setlist and receive a clinic from notable jazz band directors.

This ensemble is open to students who play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, piano, electric guitar, upright bass or electric bass, and drum set; there is also a limited availability for students who play flute and clarinet. Students who don't play one of these instruments but would like to learn are welcome to attend jazz ensemble and learn more about a new instrument.
