Above, the ultimate model of the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-17G with the Bendix remotely operated chin turret under the nose bringing the defensive armament to thirteen .50 caliber machine guns. The K on tail identifies it as a 379th bomber.
Below, the two page account of Heroya. Lt Wooldridge names his aircraft, B-17F 42 5822 " Little Maggie, " after his wife. He will fly it on three missions and it will be lost on the third mission, Kassel, July 28, 1943. The I.P. in his account is the Initial Point of the bomb run.
