Graduate Field Placement, Hiawatha Elementary

Okemos Public Schools | Okemos, MI August 2022 – May 2023

Co-taught in a 4th grade classroom with 23 students as a graduate-level intern
Led two six-week classroom take-overs of all subjects successfully, one in the fall and one in the spring in conjunction with full time graduate learning
Taught and revised lesson plans based on mentor, instructor, and peer feedback to refine teacher and student activities with the goal of improving students’ understandings of content knowledge and related crosscutting concepts
Planned and executed a class project integrated with a field trip to the Potter Park Zoo, working with community resources to engage students in their local environment while meeting required state science standards
Ended internship by successfully securing a 4th grade classroom long-term substitute position for a teacher’s maternity leave
