Since approximately version 2004 of Windows 10, users have experienced a bug that would cause visualizations to disappear upon a track transitioning to the next. Despite frequent complaints, this bug persisted for over 5 years as Microsoft never bothered to fix it. With Windows Media Player now being a legacy program, an official fix will never be released as it is effectively discontinued. However, an unofficial fix to this annoying problem has been found thanks to contributors LuciferStarDemon and celestmia!
Applying this fix is very simple:
Download the mfcore.dll file located below.
2. Ensure that your WMP is closed.
3. Place the file in the following location: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player" or in special cases "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player".
4. Open WMP and verify that visualizations do not break when the song automatically transitions.
5. Enjoy your visualizations as they were meant to be enjoyed!
Special thanks to an anonymous user on the Microsoft Q&A site that narrowed down the problem to a specific Windows update!
