Wise Feedback

"I am giving you these comments because I have very high expectations, and I know that you can reach them" (Bose, 2014; Pink, 2021; Stanford, n. d.). As few as 19 words phrased as wise feedback can have tremendous impact on students by assuring them they are capable of meeting teachers' high expectations.

Note to Users

This Virtual Professional Learning Module (VPLM) was created in conjunction with a dissertation research study in the EDCI program at Gardner-Webb University. It was designed specifically for high school English Language Arts (ELA) educators to provide professional learning on wise feedback and how to provide it to students, but any educators at the middle or secondary level can learn from the VPLM and effectively implement wise feedback.

The VPLM requires participants to complete one page before moving onto the next page. Please use the navigation buttons at the bottom of each page to move forward (Next) or move backward (Previous). Completion of this module takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, but it can be completed in multiple sessions if so desired. If it is completed in multiple sessions, make note of where you stopped to be able to pick back up at the same point.

When you are ready to start the module, click the BEGIN button.
