What theme or concept will the box convey?
How will the overall aesthetic and functionality of the box be evaluated and refined throughout the creation process?
How will the theme box reflect your style, artistic vision, and technical skills as a ceramic artist?
Identify and articulate various themes or concepts suitable for ceramic slab theme boxes.
Implement a systematic approach to evaluate the ceramic slab theme box throughout the creation process, incorporating feedback from peers, mentors, and self-assessment to refine its aesthetic and functional qualities.
Integrate personal expression and creativity into the theme box's design, surface decoration, and finishing touches to convey individual artistic identity and vision.
Step One: Start your process page with the inspiration section.
Research theme boxes on Google, Pinterest, or any other search engine. Collect three visual examples (pictures) of theme boxes. Upload the images to your process page. Below the pictures, add a link to where you found the image, and explain what you like about each example below the link. Be descriptive; no vague comments like It's cute, or I like it because it is blue.
Step Two: Add your develop section to your process page.
Fill out your Theme Box development page. In your development section, upload a picture of your design page to your process page. Below the picture, explain your design on your process page.
Step Three: Prepare your Theme Box Template.
Step Four: Prepare slabs to be 3/8" to 1/4" thick.
Step Five: Lay your template onto the prepared slabs and cut out three each of both sizes by tracing the template with your needle tool.
Step Six: Cut two long strips at least 1/4" wide.
Step Seven: Allow the slabs to get leather hard.
Step Eight: Assemble the theme box by following the videos below.
Step Nine: Add subtractive or additive designs that go with your theme. Take a picture before you place it on the Greenware to Bisque Fire shelves.
Upload a picture of your art piece before it is glazed and add it to your process page. Fully explain how your process went on your process page. More than a sentence of "it went well." Describe how you put it together and what happened when you did.
Step Ten: Rinse off your bisque ware (cup and pallet) and apply your glaze. Clean the bottom and place it on the Glaze Fire shelves.
Take a pictures (each side, top without the lid, lid on the box) of your finished theme box using the photo studio tent. Upload your image to your process page and answer the questions below with 3-4 sentences on your process page.
