Pervaiz S. Khokhar serves as President of the Human Rights Council, a distinguished leadership position dedicated to advancing the global mission of human rights protection and advocacy. As president, he plays a central role in guiding the Council’s vision, ensuring impartiality, and promoting cooperation among member states and international organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Oversight: Presides over all Council sessions, ensuring that discussions and proceedings are conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with international human rights standards.
Agenda Coordination: Sets and approves the agenda for Council meetings, prioritizing urgent human rights issues and facilitating constructive dialogue among representatives.
Policy Guidance: Provides strategic direction for the development and implementation of human rights policies, resolutions, and recommendations.
International Collaboration: Engages with governments, NGOs, and intergovernmental organizations to strengthen partnerships and promote global human rights initiatives.
Monitoring and Reporting: Oversees the review of human rights reports, investigations, and complaints submitted to the Council, ensuring accountability and follow-up actions.
Advocacy and Representation: Represents the Council in international forums, conferences, and diplomatic engagements, voicing concerns on behalf of victims of human rights violations.
Conflict Resolution: Facilitates dialogue and mediation in cases of human rights disputes, promoting peaceful and just outcomes.
Capacity Building: Encourages education, awareness, and institutional strengthening to enhance the protection of human rights at national and international levels.
