YLAKIAI GYMNASIUM OF THE SKUODAS REGION

Ylakiai Gymnasium of Skuodas region is in a small town of Ylakiai, in northwestern Lithuania. Theschool priorities are: high quality lesson, leadership and development of creativity. There are 333 pupils, 37 teachers and 19 other staff in Ylakiai gymnasium. Pupils in Ylakiai Gymnasium learn from1st to12th grade. As our school is located in a rural place pupils have got limited conditions to socialize with others and participation in a project would be the chance to use English in learning environment for them. Another point, pupils with special needs learn together with the peers.

Participation in project will help to develop tolerance as well as gain cultural awareness. School educates to protect. To protect not just our environment but the people who live in it, the communities who depend on it, the businesses who profit from it and the ecosystems which rely on it. Ylakiaigymnasium initiatives are known across the region for their promotion of sustainable practices, activities and the protection of valuable natural resources. In addition environmental actions are integrated into school curriculum and into the community. That means that Ylakiai gymnasium is aware of the environmental issues and is ready to share the experience and open for collaboration with other European schools in order to develop work skills. The administration staff and teachers of Ylakiai gymnasium are widely interested in European projects and partnership.

The school staff participated in two Comenius multilateral school partnership projects (2010-2012, 2013-2015) and was a coordinator school of the Nordplus Junior project "The Beauties of the Baltic Sea"(2013-2015). Ylakiai Gymnasium belongs to the School Environmental

Education Programme which is operated under the Foundation for Environmental Education.
