Literacy & Engagement Meetings

Ongoing literacy events support PTA’s mission to foster strong family-school partnerships. Look for upcoming literacy roundtables, author visits, and storytelling events in your area. These meetings are great ways to bring families together and support student success.

The Western Region PTA Special Education Committee along with Parent Network, and the WNY Literacy Alliance is excited to announce a special screening of the documentary The Right to Read in honor of Dyslexia Awareness Month.

Date: Friday, October 3rd

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: Roswell Park, Hohn Auditorium

This free event is open to the public and will include a panel discussion immediately following the film.

Together, we can raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations about literacy and dyslexia.

3 CORE PRINCIPLES

General Education Inclusion: Students with dyslexia must be recognized as general education students first. With appropriate support, they can thrive in inclusive classrooms, which feature structured and evidence-based reading instruction delivered by trained educators.
Continuum of Support: Recognizing that dyslexia exists on a continuum, we must develop support systems that are tailored to the diverse needs of all learners.
Literacy Equity: Every student deserves equitable access to literacy resources, ensuring that no child is disadvantaged by their background.
