We recommend spay and neuter surgery for family pets. We typically perform this surgery when your pet is between 6 and 18 months of age. The decision of when exactly in this time frame depends upon your pet’s species, breed, and lifestyle; this is best discussed after we can examine your pet to verify good health and learn more about life at home.

Pets spend only the day in the hospital and return home in the afternoon or evening on the day of surgery.  Your pet will have an individualized treatment plan and multimodal pain control therapy in the hospital and pain medication to take home as well. To ease comfort, dissolving suture is placed under the skin.  If you have any concerns during the postoperative period, we are happy to evaluate your pet or the incision at no additional charge.  Some pets need help staying calm after surgery as well, so if any sedatives are needed, we can discuss this with you.
