An exhausting day.

Today just needed to be endured. The West Davis Veterinary Center building is not new, but is new to us. Our first day there was a work party. We were joined by a horde of people getting locks changed, alarms installed, computers networked, venting hooked up, janitorial estimates done, and laboratory equipment connected. We discovered a sink problem, so we will be inviting a plumber to the afterparty. The new phones will arrive soon.

Our permanent people counted inventory, cleaned and packed away expired medications. The patient files extracted from the 2008 computers did not merge seamlessly with our software. Patient information transferred well, but drug pricing did not. We will have to finish that additional work tomorrow. We pulled over two staff members from South Davis Veterinary Center. This helped us tremendously but our teammates on the other side of town then struggled to accommodate clients and patients. We hope the West Davis Veterinary Center will soon help us see every pet that needs and appointment, but right now, we apologize for obstructing the mission at South Davis.

The workday started at 6am at the hospital and ended when we arrived home at 8:45, excepting this note which was written while eating popcorn and watching a terrific NBA finals. I am meeting our manager Sally N. at 7am in the morning. Tomorrow afternoon we return to taking care of patients in the hospital. Maybe by then our label printer will work.

With Gratitude to everyone that has been patient during the last week (and who will probably still need to be patient in the coming weeks). - Cara Bradley, DVM and Michael Yackey DVM as well as the staff at both South Davis Veterinary Center and West Davis Veterinary Center
