Project 1 - Note-taking
First of all, in writing the numbers’ practice using symbols and letters, turned out to be very difficult, since creating symbols for something that is automatic for me like writing Arabic numbers, this created conflict in my brain. First, I had to think about what sign I would write for each number. Then, I did not have enough time to memorize it, it was for sure that if I had had enough time to memorize the symbols, especially if they were invented by me, by the time the instructor dictated the numbers, I would have written most of them well, without as many mistakes as I had. After that, when she dictated new numbers and I wrote it using the Arabic system, it was so much easier because it was basically writing without thinking.
The instructor also explained different techniques that could help the interpreter to get all the information, for example, verticality and shifting, where the interpreter takes symbols and abbreviates the information, and this could be really helpful. However, this code should be memorized. I must accept that my brain does not memorize information as fast as it needs to be written down, so I think this system can be very useful when interpreting. In conclusion, if we want to be very good interpreters, then it is necessary to learn, to practice as many times as necessary and to look for methods that make it easier for us to provide the client with quality work.
Primero que todo, en la práctica de escribir los números utilizando símbolos y letras, resultó muy difícil, desde la creación de los símbolos para algo que es automático para mi como es el escribir los números arábigos, esto creó conflicto en mi cerebro. Primero, yo tenía que pensar sobre que signo debería escribir para cada número. Luego, no tenía suficiente tiempo para memorizar los números, es seguro que si hubiera tenido suficiente tiempo para memorizar los símbolos, especialmente si hubieran sido inventados por mi, al momento que la instructora dictaba los números, los hubiera escrito la mayoría bien, sin tantos errores como los tuve. Después de eso, cuando ella dictó nuevos númeors y yo usé el sistema arábigo, fue mucho más fácil porque fue básicamente escribirlo sin pensar.
La instructora también explicó diferentes técnicas que podrían ayudar al intérprete a obtener toda la información, por ejemplo, verticalidad y desplazamiento, donde el intérprete toma los símbolos y abrevia la información y esto puede ser de mucha ayuda. Sin embargo, este código debe ser memorizado. Debo aceptar que mi cerebro no memoriza la información tan rápido como se requiere para ser escrita, así que pienso que este sistema puede ser muy útil cuando se interpreta. En conclusión, si queremos ser realmente buenos intérpretes, es necesario aprender, practicar tantas veces sea necesario y buscar métodos que faciliten brindarle al cliente un trabajo de calidad.
