Being a new student is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming and pose lots of questions. Good news: You don't need to know all the answers! In fact, you may not even know what your questions are just yet.

If you get stuck, this is a good page to check for where to go next. There are so many incredible resources and services available on campus, but it can be difficult to keep track of them. We can point you in the right direction here.

There are a few issues that often come up for students, so we've hand-picked some of the most helpful resources for new students and included them below. We encourage you to start accessing the resources available now to begin building that strong foundation from day one.

Google Apps

As a MRU student you have a mtroyal Google account that includes Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and more. These apps will be essential to your experience at MRU, so spend some time now getting comfortable with them.

Finances

Financial stress can be overwhelming when you need to keep up with your studies. Learn more about how to budget for student life and how to spend your money wisely while at university.

Access and Inclusion Services

Did you have an IPP in high school? Do you have a documented mental or physical health concern? If so, register now with Access and Inclusion Services by submitting a Public Request Form. Connecting early will ensure that any accommodations you may need are in place for the start of your first semester.

We are SO EXCITED for you! Welcome to MRU! New Student Orientation has been developed to help you transition into your first year of studies. We encourage you to explore this website, register for any online events you are interested in, engage in the online discussion board, and more.

Most importantly, New Student Orientation is here for you - utilize it in the way that works best for you (and check back regularly as events and information will be updated regularly!).

I have registered for an online event - what do I do now?

Once you have registered for an online event you can simply sit tight and wait for any additional event details and links to be sent your way. This information will be sent to your mtroyal email account ONLY, so be sure to check it regularly.

Online events will be held using Google Meet, which is a part of your mtroyal Google account. If you haven't used Google Meet before, don't worry! It is very user-friendly and you will receive helpful steps and tips via your mtroyal email account.

I am nervous about participating in this online environment. Help!

Don't worry, being nervous is normal! The good news is that many other new students are nervous too. We will be providing tips about how to participate in each online event and most will have moderators there to welcome you and answer any questions. We want you to get the most of out the experience, so we encourage you to engage in ways that feel comfortable to you!
