STARLETTES MAJOR
Hi my name is Arely Cantu and I am part of the Starlettes! I have been honored to be the team´s major for the past 3 years! My plans after high school are to travel and be more independent. Currently, I am planning on attending UTRGV and majoring in Education to not only become a teacher, but also come back and help the team! The Wildcat Regiment and the Starlettes are like a family to me. Everyone is friendly and outgoing with everyone. There is never a sense that you don't belong. The Wildcat Regiment and Starlettes made the high school experience worth it.
STARLETTES CAPTAIN
Hi! My name is Thaily Mata and I am a senior! I am part of Weslaco East High School Starlettes as well as being captain for this season! My plans after high school are currently traveling around the world as well as aiming to get my basics done at UTRGV, then going to The University of Texas at Austin to finish up to major in education to become a teacher.
"Hello, I am Laura Cedillo-Rivera, and I am the WEHS STARLETTE Director. I graduated from Weslaco High School in 2008. Following this, I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Education in 2012. I then took a 2-year break before returning to school in Spring 2014 to earn my Master of Arts n History from the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley with a Graduate Certificate in Mexican American Studies. I first began teaching in the Fall of 2012 at Weslaco High School as a Social Studies teacher where I continue to do so, going on 9 years. I also taught their Color Guard course from Fall 2012 to Fall 2013 before taking the STARLETTES Director position at Weslaco East Spring 2014. Since then, I have expanded the STARLETTES program to be a year-round program, participating in the competition for both dance and Color guard, separate from the Band, during the Spring semester."
