Place

The "Place" field is also known in Omeka as "Spatial Coverage."

This optional field records the geographical location of the subject of the item. For example, a photograph taken in Forest Grove would have the value: Forest Grove, Oregon. Common values for this field may include:

• Oregon
• Washington County, Oregon
• Forest Grove, Oregon
• [Other town name], Oregon

...etc. Basically, you enter the name of the place in [City/County Name], [State] order.

If the item isn't "about" a particular place, then leave this field blank. For example, if you are describing a book of poetry that was published in Portland but isn't really about Portland, then just leave it blank. The field is supposed to help users who are looking for resources such as photographs of a town to find the right photographs.
