Medium and Extent

These two fields are normally left blank for most material in Washington County Heritage, but you may optionally use them to record details about the dimensions or duration of items, as well as their original media format. We most often use these fields for audio, video and original artwork where these details are more important.

Extent

This field can record the dimensions of the original item, or in the case of audio/video files, its format and duration. Examples:

• 1 sound cassette (1 hr., 23 min.)
• 3.5" x 5"

Medium

This field can record the original format of an item. Normally we only use this field when describing original artwork such as paintings and sculptures.
