This is how the Waikoloa Hills Technology Committee will handle information gathered about you from your visit to the website. The information received depends on what you do when you visit this site.

General information

If you experience technical problems with the operation of this website, contact the Webmaster.

This website links to documents located on websites maintained by other organizations. Once you access an individual document that links you to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of the website containing that document.

Cookie

A "cookie" is a small text file that a website can place on your computer's hard drive in order, for example, to collect information about your activities on the site or to make it possible for you to use an online "shopping cart" to keep track of items you wish to purchase. The cookie transmits this information back to the website's computer which, generally speaking, is the only computer that can read it. Most consumers do not know that "cookies" are being placed on their computers when they visit websites. If you want to know when this happens, or to prevent it from happening, you can set your browser to warn you when a website attempts to place a "cookie" on your computer.

Portions of our website may use cookies only for security and authentication purposes. These Cookies are set by the web server and not this site. This information is used solely to maintain your computer’s session to the server. This information is not shared or sold by this web site to any third party organizations for any purpose. The Waikoloa Hills AOAO website does not maintain "cookies."

About the security of the information you provide to us

If you send an email to the AOAO, Technology Committee, or Webmaster, you should know that email is not necessarily secure against interception. So, if your communication includes sensitive information that you prefer not to use in email, please contact the AOAO or Technology Committee by postal mail or telephone rather than email.

If you visit this site to browse, read or download information (e.g., Newsletter, Community Events, Hot Issues)

Each time a visitor comes to this website, the web server collects and logs certain information. The Waikoloa Hills AOAO website access/usage log may collect and store information about your visit. These logs include, but are not restricted to the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com or princeton.edu); the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access the site; and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to this site.

These logs may also contain information about ‘referrer’ information if you clicked on an external link from this website. These logs are used solely for performance, site administration and security reviews. They are not sold or shared in any way to third party organizations. These access logs are kept for a reasonable period of time, then deleted by the web server. While the log automatically stores this information, this information is currently not used by this web site for any purpose or released to any third parties. It is possible that, in the future, this information could be used to present statistical data on usage of the site. However, no personal identifying information is collected, and any such use would be clearly outlined in this privacy policy. Additionally, this site does not use "cookies."

If you choose to identify yourself by sending email or when using online forms (e.g., Waikoloa Hills resident contact update)

The Technology Committee/Webmaster will use your personally-identifying information only to fulfill your request for information or access to areas of the website. The personal information you provide to us is forwarded only to the person or committee equipped to handle your request and is used only to respond to your inquiry.

If you consent, we may enter the information you send into a database of residents, e.g., an online Waikoloa Hills Residents Directory. However, inclusion in that online directory will require your specific consent. The Waikoloa Hills AOAO and the Technology Committee will NOT sell, rent, exchange or release to third parties any personal-identifying information you submit via the website or in email to the AOAO, Technology Committee, or Webmaster, nor will such information be added to bulk email lists.

Our policy on children's information (e.g., photos, events)

It is the agreed policy of the Technology Committee to provide the utmost protection of the privacy of Waikoloa Hills' children. Therefore, the website will never knowingly identify a minor child on the website. Photos posted of community children will not bear captions specifically identifying any child.

In addition, any community Newsletter articles or photos identifying community children will be deleted from the online versions. This includes listings, photos or captions or other identifying information.

If you have concerns about the privacy of Waikoloa Hills's children on the website, please contact the Technology Committee or Webmaster.
