Drawing and Painting
Exercise your art muscles - become a mixed media studio artist. Students and teacher will explore fundamentals of drawing and painting. Emphasis is placed on developing studio habits of mind as well as self-motivated learner experiences. Students are encouraged to bring in ideas, designed items, and personal projects of interest. A variety of mixed media will be made available for study and experimentation. Produce original, high quality, personal art to develop a working portfolio -- or just learn to draw beyond the stick figure.
Contemporary and traditional artists, art making processes, and media will be studied throughout the course duration. Understanding of artistic principles will be gained through making artwork and reflecting upon personal explorations and results.

Ceramics
Exercise your art muscles - try your hand at wedging clay! Students and teacher will explore fundamentals of ceramic hand-building, wheel-throwing, and sculpture. Emphasis is placed on developing studio habits of mind as well as self-motivated learner experiences. Students are encouraged to bring in ideas, designed items, and personal projects of interest.
Contemporary and traditional artists, art making processes, and media will be studied throughout the course duration. Understanding of artistic principles will be gained through making artwork and reflecting upon personal explorations and results.

Advanced Art
Exercise your art muscles - become a mixed media studio artist. Students who have successfully completed both Art Survey courses and two or more semesters of Art are eligible to take on Advanced Art curriculum. Emphasis is placed on refining studio habits of mind as well as self-motivated learner experiences. Students are encouraged to bring in ideas, designed items, and personal projects of interest, but will also be provided with sources for contemporary artist influences and processes. Students will be able to choose their area of media focus and will receive one-on-one instruction and guidance for their artworks and explorations.

Graphic Design / Digital Illustration
Learn industry-standard design programs - become a junior graphic designer. Take part in student-paced interactive instruction for Google Chromebook-compatible design programs to produce original and print-ready artwork. Our goal will be to possess working knowledge of these design programs to enhance and supplement curriculum and projects.
Students are encouraged to bring in ideas, designed items, and personal projects of interest. Students will learn about 3D modeling as a digital design tool, learn the history of printing from the first printing press to modern day digital printing, and create editions of prints and proofs using traditional and modern printing techniques.
