Getting to KU

Arriving by Plane

The University of Kansas is located in Lawrence, Kansas, which does not have an airport for commercial jet flights. Attendees should fly to Kansas City International Airport (MCI), in Kansas City, Missouri (USA). This airport is approximately a forty-five minute drive from the University.

Kansas City International Airport (colloquially called "KCI") was originally called Mid-Continent International Airport, or MCI, so the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) adopted MCI as the airport's designator code. It's worth noting that US airports cannot legally use codes beginning with N, K or W as the first letter of the prefix. N is the prefix reserved for aircraft, and K and W are reserved for radio call sign prefixes.

From the Airport to KU

You can rent a car, take an Uber, arrange a shuttle, or pay for a taxi (worst option). The conference organizers are working to coordinate a subsidized form of transportation, if possible. When and if this happens, we will let all attendees know.
