Peer Review Process

Responsible Parties

For each WAAC, the Program Committee receives and conducts a peer-review of all submitted proposals. For 2023, the Program Committee Co-Chairs are:

Process

Full Panel Review

Once the Program Committee has received the submitted proposals, they will engage in a three step process.

  1. The Committee will review all proposals for full panels to first determine if they are appropriate for WAAC.

  2. The remaining proposals will be independently ranked by each member of the Committee from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) based upon intellectual merit, broader impact, and overall quality.

  3. Once the Co-Chairs have aggregated the findings, they will make a decision about which panels to accept.


Individual Papers

Once the Program Committee has received all individual paper proposals, they will engage in a five step process.

  1. The Committee will first review all proposals to determine if they are appropriate for WAAC.

  2. The Committee creates panels from the remaining submissions.

  3. The newly-formed panels will be independently ranked by each member of the Committee from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) based upon intellectual merit, broader impact, and overall quality.

  4. Once the Co-Chairs have aggregated the findings, they will make a decision about which panels to accept.

  5. The Committee may elect to extend a person an offer to present their work as a poster or Rapid-Fire Talk, instead.
