Audition Day

Audition Date & Location

Auditions will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Champlain Valley Union High School (369 CVU Road, Hinesburg, VT).

If dangerous weather makes it necessary for the festival director to postpone auditions on the 13th, then all auditions would be held on the following Saturday (January 20th). Everyone should assume that auditions will proceed as scheduled on January 13th. If there were a postponement, that information would be posted on this website and also on the WCAX.com closings page (https://www.wcax.com/weather/closings/).

Audition Arrival Time

Schools/students should arrive at the audition site at least 45 minutes before their first scheduled audition time. Schools/students scheduled for mid- to late afternoon should arrive by 1:00pm, as the schedule may have compressed during the day due to cancellations and this may allow auditions to occur earlier than originally scheduled.

Audition Check-In

Upon arrival, music educators should check in at the All State table in the lobby area to confirm their school's arrival and to report any student cancellations or absences. Students do NOT need to check in; they should proceed directly to the appropriate warm-up area. 

Warm-Ups & Audition Rooms

Separate warm-up areas will be provided for instrumentalists and vocalists. All audition preparation should take place in these rooms; practicing in hallways and stairwells is not permitted. It is important to be respectful of the auditions occurring in all the rooms and keep the hallways and areas around rooms as quiet as possible.

Musicians should report to their audition room 10 minutes prior to their scheduled audition time slot. The adjudicator or room proctor will call for each musician when it is their time to audition.
