Virtual Preparatory Academy of West Virginia
FBLA Chapter
West Virginia Future Business Leaders of America was established in 1997 and is part of the National Future Business Leaders of America. The mission of WV FBLA fosters the development of community-minded individuals who aspire to be business leaders. FBLA fosters the blend of community service initiatives, leadership development, and business collaboration for the good of all. The heart of FBLA is nurturing its commitment to develop, recognize, and reward excellence in business practices. Members are encouraged to participate in competitive events in a wide range of business and career-related areas. The events serve as building blocks for students to attain successful careers.
This is the inaugural year for the VPrep Academy of WV FBLA chapter. Our focus for this year will be to:
· Expose members to various business-related competencies.
· Engage in at least one community service for your area.
· Partner with at least two businesses (sponsors) in your area.
· Attend Fall Leadership Conference in November (location TBD).
· Prepare for and attend State Leadership Conference typically held in February or March each year. Students who place in SLC competitions are eligible to compete in the National Leadership Conference next summer which is being held in San Antonio, Texas.
· Engage in fundraising opportunities to help support the cost of attending these conferences.
VPrep highly encourages all business students to participate in FBLA. The chapter is also open to any student who is interested in business skills but not able to take a VPrep business class. Annual dues are $25 which will cover national, state, and chapter dues. Those are due by October 1st. The state leadership conferences typically cost each member approximately $80-$130. National Leadership Conference expenses range from $800-$1800 depending on many factors (flights and lodging are the costliest). Fundraising is something we take seriously in FBLA to help with all these costs. We will also solicit businesses to sponsor our chapter.
