To start CBI year 2, students will begin by learning what employment means, how to locate open positions, and what they should do to prepare for it. They will continue on in the preparation journey by learning how to dress, communicate, and speak like a professional. Wrapping up this semester, students will learn how to articulate and communicate through writing and begin constructing their resume.
Introduction to Health Science: This course introduces you to the exciting world of healthcare, exploring careers, professionalism, ethics, safety, and patient care. In this class, we’ll break down key concepts, discuss real-world examples, and connect your learning to the skills needed in health science. You’ll build a strong foundation to prepare for advanced study and future healthcare career pathways. Health Science Theory (prerequisite Intro to Health Science):Health Science Theory is the next step after Introduction to Health Science (Principles of Health Science), designed for students who want to dive deeper into the medical field. This course expands on the basics by exploring healthcare careers, medical terminology, professional communication, patient care, workplace safety, and legal/ethical responsibilities. Students will also study wellness and disease prevention, substance abuse, documentation, collaboration, and how to respond to emergencies and trauma. Through engaging activities and real-world applications, you’ll strengthen your knowledge and skills while preparing for advanced health science courses and future career pathways in healthcare. Human Anatomy (prerequisite Intro to Health Science and Health Science Theory)The Anatomy & Physiology course is designed for students to conduct laboratory and field investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. Students in Anatomy and Physiology will study a variety of topics, including the structure and function of the human body and the interaction of body systems for maintaining homeostasis. Principles of Information Technology:Principles of IT helps you understand computing and information technology concepts from the inside out. You will start off looking at the hardware and software options for a computer, including common troubleshooting methodologies. Then you move into networks, and how computers work together, including how the internet works. This course will also explore some of the basics of graphic design, web development languages, and coding. You will also learn about team building, communication and presentation software, and becoming a digital citizen, giving perspective on how to collaborate with others as you transition from school to the workplace. Lastly, you will uncover potential cyber threats and how to protect your own devices.Programming I (prerequisite Principles of Information Technology):
This course will explore the software development life cycle from start to finish while developing your own programming skills with Python. Explore the power of data and algorithms along with their influence on the world. Discover how programming can solve a vast array of problems. Plan and develop a problem-solving program while performing testing, debugging, and quality assurance procedures. Programming II (Prerequisite Principles of Information Technology and Programming I)Discover the most popular programming languages and what they have to offer the software world. Explore data, algorithms, and objectives and how they are essential to language ‘speak’. Learn the software development life cycle and how it can be implemented so you can create projects, such as a prototype for an app you'll code and a working to-do list website. Second semester get ready to take your programming abilities to the next level in Programming! You'll start by developing a simple web page using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and then you'll practice your Python skills, making your own photo editor and sound player! Using API, you'll practice adding a weather widget to a website and you'll ensure page safety using encryption techniques through Python. You'll test, you'll inspect, you'll collaborate, and for your finale, you'll craft a graphical user interface for an app using Python’s Tkinter!
