Southland Integrated Services, Garden Grove

Founded in 1998, Southland Integrated Services is a community-based nonprofit that operates a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing integrated health and comprehensive social services to underserved populations.

As a Stop the Hate grantee, Southland implemented trauma-informed approaches to anti-hate education, offering youth workshops on effective bystander intervention and safe spaces for seniors through listening circles and peer-support groups focused on safety and healing practices.

Through workshops and creative initiatives, Southland exposed seniors to broader patterns of systemic discrimination; shared strategies for safety planning, bystander intervention, and reporting hate crimes; and empowered patients to be proactive in protecting themselves and supporting others.

The organization also engaged youth by partnering with local schools and community organizations to provide anti-discrimination education, mental health support, and opportunities to embrace advocacy and cultural heritage.

Stop the Hate funding has enabled Southland to expand conversations around equity and racial trauma healing practices, as well as highlight the importance of accessibility, persistence, and broad outreach—such as offering workshops in schools and community spaces—to reach those most in need and foster a culture of empathy, resilience, and empowerment across diverse populations.
