Instructional Practices for Engagement
There isn’t one solution for learner engagement during online learning. Teachers will need to combine multiple strategies in order to reach learners. Engagement is a measure of how much students attend to a task or activity. Student motivation and focus, as well as the design of the course and the teacher’s facilitation style, affect learner engagement.
One of the most important components of increasing student engagement is being an engaged instructor. This means to be visible in the class: post and participate in discussion chats, provide class announcements, and provide effective assignment feedback.
There are many ways to increase engagement in the classroom. To explore strategies you can use in your classroom, look at the Instructional Practices for Engagement document. Try to incorporate some of these ideas into your lesson planning (for lesson planning guidance, see section XX)
