My Dream Job
I want to work as an tax accountant in Deloitte. I think this decision would open a lot of doors and would get me to network with more bright minded individual's at this company. I could find people who I look up to there and ask them for advice and make ew connections. I would get lots of experience in here as well because they have a good accounting department. I would also get a good starting salary as well as good benefits because of how good of a company Deloitte is. They are known as one of "The Big Four" companies in the corporate world. Having the opportunity to work at such a prestigeous place would be amazing.
My Dream Business
I would love to start my own accounting firm in Texas because they have a growing population and there is ton of land there that wil most likely be filled in the future. I would provide tax services there and also consulting. At this time I would be a CPA and have tons of experience from previous accounting firms that I have worked in, so I would use this to make sure that my accounting firm provides top tier service. I would reach out to people in the area and as well as small businesses because I feel that they are under-presented. I would also hire a good balance of new talent as well as experienced professionals because their input would be great.
Test Drive
Internships - I aim to land at least two internships in tax accounting. One during the busy tax season and the other during the summer. I want to get real experience so that it could help me figure out if this is the career that I want to do and if I am comfortable doing it.
Researching The Profession - I believe I should ask current accountants how they feel about the work they do and how much of a workload it is. I will ask them about how well their work-life balance is and if they feel like this is their dream job. I would ask them their top reasons for choosing this as a career and if there are any downsides to being an accountant.
Considering Possible Alternatives - I want to look into what type of jobs people who were once accountants go into and their reasons for doing so. Sometimes they change departments in their firm and go into a finance related job. I want to know if there are certificates that are just as useful as a CPA.
