I Am A Cliché is a project that explores topics like web-based photo communities and collective content online. By manipulating cliché in analogue photography using modern AI technology, the project also highlights the difference between the old and new. To gather the data, the artist has collected hundreds of film selfies from her friends and online. The selfies were fed into a programme with a technology called generative adversarial network(GAN). The programme studied the group of photographs through AI machine learning, and videos of morphing AI-generated selfies were produced. Through multiple testing and experimenting, the programme gained more knowledge of the visual components of a classic film mirror selfie, which creates more realistic products after each test. The frames were then captured to produce the final work.
