Hello all and welcome to the first blog post of the 2018 PreserVenice Team. This week we’ve officially met and started to get the ball rolling on our IQP experience. When hearing about this project and all it entailed our group was so excited to have a big role in helping PreserVenice officially launch. This week involved a lot of housekeeping and set up for us. We started by going through all the documentation provided, making sense of the project itself and all that was expected of us. Once we had a handle on the initial expectations, we went right into creating our Google Drive and our Site.
As we were setting all this up we also got a chance to meet one another and get to know the people who we will be spending the next 14 weeks with. Our group members include Dimitri Berardi, Benjamin Hetherington, Samuel Joy, and Katherine Thompson. More information about all of us can be found here. Directly after meeting each other, we also had the chance to meet the advisors and some of the sponsors that will be involved with the project. We had a productive first meeting with Professor Fabio Carrera, Tomaso Minelli, and Ane Pina where we talked about the project, what was expected out of PQP, and did some light brainstorming. Following this PQP meeting we also had our first ID2050 meeting where we met both Professor Butler, our ID2050 professor, and Professor Michalson, our co-advisor.
Having met all the people who will be a part of this process, we were ready to start piecing together our project. We did that this week by completing PQP Assignment 1 and PQP Assignment 2. These meetings asked a lot of questions that prompted discussion between our group about what problem we are addressing, how we will address it, what our project deliverables will be, and just some general brainstorming about how we can go above and beyond what is expected of us.
